2025-Wayland Firefighters Local 1978 vs. Town of Wayland
The Town of Wayland violated the Collective Bargaining Agreement by requiring Firefighters to undergo Independent Medical Examinations (IMEs) before placing them on Injury on Duty (IOD) status. As a remedy, the Arbitrator ordered the Town to reimburse the Grievants for any sick time owed to them due to their 2023 on-the-job injuries. The Arbitrator also enjoined the Town from requiring IMEs as a condition for placing injured firefighters on IOD status under the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
